Singing at the Foinn Seisiún, Ennis, Ireland

Jocie first enjoyed Irish music as a child, singing along with records and her father.  Ever since, Irish music has been a presence in her life.   For a long time, though, Jocie's musical involvement reflected her American roots.  Now, Jocie's experiences with American folk, country, blues, and jazz, inform her understanding of Irish traditional music.

Many an evening singing and playing in Irish traditional music sessions, time with renowned Irish singers and musicians, study of sean-nós singing and Irish Gaelic, and travel in Ireland strengthen that understanding, grounding it in the feel of the music and a deep sense of community and culture.

Jocie performs solo and with others.  Her focus is on Irish traditional music, with a special interest in sean-nós singing.
